Christ’s Church Prime Timers participates each year in Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes have delighted children and opened doors for the Gospel in some of the most remote places on earth. Each child receives a brightly decorated shoebox, filled with gifts.
What is an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox?
Yes, Play-Doh can be included in your shoebox gift. However, some children might think it is edible. Scissors are OK to include in your shoebox gifts. This is a great idea as some girls who don’t have access to these items have to miss school while they’re menstruating.

We, in our district, have been told for the last couple of years, we are not allowed to put in toothpaste any more. Some went to a country about 3 yrs ago and the country refused the boxes, saying the toothpaste was past the due date.

Even if it might be too late, I think it is never to late to get anykind of gifts such as these. The countries that they deliver too do not get cold weather so no need for scarfs or gloves. Crafting allows girls to express their creativity. First, we gathered up all our pop cans, wine bottles (mine, not my Little Sister’s), tetra juice packs (my Little’s, not mine), and beer bottles (my neighbor’s), and took them to the bottle depot. It took less than an hour, and we earned $35. That’s a lot of bottle money – we’ve been saving all our bottles so we can buy scrapbooking supplies.
I've been packing OCC shoeboxes with gifts that provide the greatest impact for 20 years. I use them for my Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, but these could also be used in homeless and veteran kits as well. I had not checked the OCC Canada page until I read your comment, but you are correct. However, in the U.S, toothpaste is specifically suggested. It would be a good idea, as you said, to double check as far as customs regulations for your specific country. Please don’t send liquids of any kind, as they could leak. Also, no war-related items , expired food/candy, or fragile items.
(The light was $0.97 after Menard's rebate). We’re planning to pack 180+ Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes and we are requesting donations for shipping and handling to cover the cost ($10 per box). We request all boxes be in by Sunday, November 13th. Our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Dedication will be on Sunday, November 20th.
When that happens, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need. At the Charlotte Processing Center, Franklin Graham and full-circle shoebox recipient... You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself, your family, or group. If you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back.
Reusable pads generally come in sets of five or more, which provides coverage for the average length of an average period. Nearly every country that receives OCC shoeboxes struggles to dispose of its waste safely. I read that some kids who attend food distributions have nothing to put their meal in. They have to cup their hands together and eat from them. I'm including a small plastic bowl and sturdy plastic cutlery . To fit more in the box, I fill the bowl with small stuff and secure it with rubber bands.

Details to fill your box are listed on our below. Anyone is welcome to contribute boxes for this ministry, and anyone is welcome and encouraged to come along on the delivery trip . This is a ministry service that changes hearts and minds through God’s love—of the kids and staff members in Mexico, and maybe even more so, the hearts of those donating and delivering the shoeboxes. That way if their box were to get wet after they receive their presents, it wouldn’t get ruined and they would always have it to sore their treasures in or carry water, etc. It’s okay to take things out of the packages they came in.
About crayons melting, I am not sure they melt like they used to when I was a kid. We go through lots of crayons with my kids at home here, and one time, I tried to melt broken bits to make rainbow type crayons. I heated and heated, then microwaved and NOTHING melted except faintly on the edges. One thing to consider when including a ruler is the size. Most 12″ rulers don’t fit in the GO boxes so try to find 6″ or flexible ones.

You can name your goal page in honor of an occasion or special someone and invite others to join you in celebrating! Some goal pages have encouraged people to build 50 boxes in honor of a 50th birthday, or to remember a late grandmother’s birthday because she had such a heart for children.
