CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX GIFTS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 15, 2022
Increasingly strict customs regulations make it difficult for some things to cross international borders even though they may have previously been allowed by Operation Christmas Child. Every year, the 10–14 age group consistently receives the fewest shoeboxes. Yes, wet wipes do not have enough liquid to spill out into the shoebox so they are OK to include in your gift. Money for shipping/handling, shoebox costs or other shoebox supplies. They do have translators for children who are sponsored through other programs so my understanding is they would find someone to translate. The times we’ve written letters, we’ve tried to keep it short and send a photo so even if there’s a language barrier, it’s not as big a deal.

A Personal Note
About crayons melting, I am not sure they melt like they used to when I was a kid. We go through lots of crayons with my kids at home here, and one time, I tried to melt broken bits to make rainbow type crayons. I heated and heated, then microwaved and NOTHING melted except faintly on the edges. One thing to consider when including a ruler is the size. Most 12″ rulers don’t fit in the GO boxes so try to find 6″ or flexible ones.

We request all boxes be in by Sunday, November 13th. Our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Dedication will be on Sunday, November 20th.

Our job is to put shoeboxes into shipping crates and send them on to one of the main Collection Centers. Samaritan’s Purse does not require you to just do Regular Shoe Boxes. I have always done plastic containers and We recommend it to others. The only thing they have suggested to use is use a standard ladies size shoebox or make sure your container is the same size as a standard ladies size shoebox. You can get the same amount of each in a shipping crate. Fill your box with sturdy, age appropriate toys, treats, school supplies, hygiene items, and more.
Not sure if it was or not or was it a ploy to just keep the boxes out of childrens hands. If you want to participate but don’t have time to make a box, you can donate through the link above on the right side of the screen and we will make a shoebox gift for you. Just received info from a missionary where they recieve the shoe boxes. And she said she has been in several places that recieve the shoeboxes.

I would like to participate in this project. I voted up, useful, awesome, beautiful and interesting. The best time with the girls shoebox is now. Just as important as what you should include in your shoebox is what you absolutely should NOT pack.
I do wrap them but where the tape won’t tear the outside. I include a note to unwrap it for an extra gift. I just read the Do Not Include list on the Samaritan’s Purse website – starting in 2017 toothpaste and candy will NOT be allowed any longer . Hi Karen Junior – Toothpaste from the US is still allowed to be sent. There was some confusion at first because it was no longer listed in the “send” part of the brochure.
Nice of you to think of what the older children might need and what would make them happy. Some of the simplest and most practical ideas seem to escape us. Sue Luma of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, makes sure that every shoebox gift she packs has a personalized lid, bearing encouraging words and drawings. She wants each child to know that someone loved them enough to create the special artwork for them. At times, she designs some lids to be more interactive, containing a road, checkerboard, or a dollhouse scene for the child to use when playing with the items in their shoebox. She even makes sure that the box contents follow the theme of her lids.
